Apple has introduced new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, delivering major gains in performance and on-device AI. The updated laptops feature a redesigned CPU with up to 18 cores, next-generation GPUs with built-in Neural Accelerators, and significantly higher unified memory bandwidth.
Apple says the new chips offer up to four times faster AI performance than the previous generation and up to eight times faster than M1 models. The systems support up to 64GB of unified memory on M5 Pro and 128GB on M5 Max, enabling advanced AI model training, video editing, and 3D rendering workflows.
Storage now starts at 1TB for M5 Pro and 2TB for M5 Max, with up to twice the SSD speeds. Additional upgrades include Wi-Fi 7 via Apple’s new N1 wireless chip, Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, a Liquid Retina XDR display, and up to 24 hours of battery life.
The new MacBook Pro will be available in space black and silver, with pre-orders beginning March 4.
