The new feature allows users to access and edit designs for up to 14 days without connectivity, helping creators, students, educators and businesses continue working seamlessly across devices and locations.
Canva has introduced a new Offline Mode feature, allowing users to continue creating and editing designs even when internet connectivity is unavailable, as the company looks to make its visual communication platform more accessible in mobile-first and connectivity-challenged environments.
The feature marks a significant product update for the AI-powered design platform, enabling users to work on projects without relying on a constant internet connection. Once connectivity is restored, changes made offline are automatically synchronised, ensuring a seamless workflow across devices.
Canva said the capability was developed in response to strong demand from its global user community and was first showcased during the company's Canva Create event earlier this year. The rollout is expected to benefit users who frequently work while travelling, in remote locations, or in areas where internet access may be inconsistent.
The company noted that the feature could be particularly relevant in markets such as India, where digital adoption continues to expand rapidly, but network availability can still vary across regions.
Designed for a mobile-first workforce
The launch reflects the growing need for flexible productivity tools that support users regardless of location or connectivity conditions. With an increasing number of professionals, students, educators and entrepreneurs relying on digital platforms for everyday work, uninterrupted access to creative tools has become an important requirement.
Offline Mode enables users to save selected designs for offline access and continue working across supported formats and devices. According to Canva, users can edit and create content for up to 14 days without an internet connection, eliminating the need to pause projects due to connectivity disruptions.
The company has also simplified access to the feature. Users can enable offline availability directly from their designs without requiring additional software downloads, subscriptions or complex configuration processes.
Expanding access to creativity
Canva believes the feature will have broad applications across user segments. Small businesses can continue producing marketing materials while travelling, educators and students can work on classroom projects without interruption, and professionals can maintain productivity during commutes or business travel.
Commenting on the launch, Rob Kawalsky, Global Head of Product, Canva, said, “With more than a billion designs created in the last year alone, India has emerged as one of Canva’s fastest-growing and most creative communities globally. Offline mode reflects our commitment to building for the way India creates today: mobile-first, always moving, and full of ideas. By making creativity more accessible and flexible, we’re empowering millions of people to keep bringing great ideas to life - wherever inspiration strikes.”
The feature is being made available at no additional cost to all Canva users, further strengthening the company’s efforts to make design and visual communication tools accessible to a wider audience. As digital creation becomes increasingly integrated into everyday work and education, Offline Mode aims to ensure that creativity is not limited by connectivity constraints.
