On Wednesday, the government confirmed that it has adequate facilities to quarantine about 60,000 coronavirus patients at various central and state government locations, if the need arise.
With the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country increasing, government officials said provisions for 12,000 beds have been made at central government facilities, including Indian Army and central armed police forces (CAPFs). The state governments have more than 26,000 quarantine locations and another 22,000 beds are available at Haj facilities.
The army will provide 4,500 beds at Manesar, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Jhansi, Gaya and Binnauri, according to officials, while CAPFs, including ITBP, CRPF, BSF, SSB and Assam Rifles, have set up facilities to deal with 5,500 cases.
