The advisory, rated as “high” in severity, highlights that Chrome versions older than 136.0.7103.113/.114 on Windows and Mac, and older than 136.0.7103.113 on Linux, are at risk.
India’s top cybersecurity agency, CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team), has issued a high-severity alert regarding multiple security vulnerabilities in Google Chrome. These Google Chrome bugs are already being actively exploited by cybercriminals, making it urgent for users to update their Chrome browser without delay.
According to the advisory released on May 16, versions of Google Chrome older than 136.0.7103.113/.114 on Windows and Mac, and 136.0.7103.113 on Linux, are highly vulnerable. These flaws could allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code, potentially gaining full control over affected systems. This raises serious internet safety concerns, especially for users who have not yet installed the latest Chrome security patch.
The vulnerabilities impact key browser components and can be triggered simply by visiting a malicious website, making this a critical browser update alert. Cybersecurity experts recommend users check their current Chrome version and apply the Chrome security update immediately to safeguard personal and sensitive data.
CERT-In's warning comes as part of a broader push to enhance cybersecurity hygiene among Indian internet users. With Chrome being the most widely used browser globally, staying on top of security patches is essential to reduce the risk of malware, phishing, and other online threats.
