Once enabled, the feature will offer functionalities like “drag to talk,” real-time transcription, and meeting summaries, while requesting microphone and system audio access, along with a reminder to obtain consent before recording conversations
OpenAI appears to be developing a new “Record” feature for its ChatGPT app, potentially setting the stage to compete with Microsoft Teams’ Copilot integration.
According to details discovered by a tech enthusiast on social platform X, code within the ChatGPT mobile app hints at a recording capability that would allow users to capture live meetings, pause and resume recordings, and convert spoken content into text.
The feature, once enabled, may offer functionalities such as “drag to talk,” real-time transcription, and instant meeting summaries. It also prompts users to grant microphone and system audio access, while explicitly advising them to obtain consent before recording conversations.
ChatGPT’s next step in productivity
While ChatGPT already supports a variety of third-party services, it currently lacks the ability to directly record or summarize live audio sessions — a gap this feature could address. However, early indications suggest the tool may function as an overlay, recording through the ChatGPT interface itself, rather than integrating directly with conferencing apps like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
If launched, the feature would mark a significant step toward positioning ChatGPT as a more versatile productivity assistant in the increasingly competitive AI-driven collaboration space.
