As per the latest update, Chhattisgarh Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese firm for setting up an industry to manufacture computer equipment, smartphones and laptops in the state.
The agreement was entered into between Chhattisgarh Infotech and Biotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) and the firm Ms Fourstar. CHiPS Chief Executive Officer Surabh Kumar and Fourstar Director Davi inked the MoU in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh at a function here.
According to the MoU, the manufacturing plant will come up at Urkura Industrial Area, near Raipur. CSIDC has developed the industrial area for establishing an IT Park and this will be the first IT industry to invest Rs.100 crore for the same.
An official from the firm said that the company will also provide skill development training in the IT sector to youths. He said that, to begin with, the company will be manufacturing 75,000 computer tablets, smartphones and laptops per month and added that the company has set a target to increase the manufacturing capacity to 10 lakh units per year.
The Chief Minister, taking a leaf from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” campaign, coined the slogan of “Make in Chhattisgarh” on the occasion and said that the state will focus on inviting national and international companies to come and make in Chhattisgarh.
