Coronavirus: Kerala plans public kitchens, says no one should starve

After the declaration of 21 day lock down in the whole country, the state government has announced community kitchens run by local bodies  to ensure that the lockdown does not leave anyone starving in Kerala. People can dial for food, which would be served by volunteers at their doorstep. Local bodies will also provide food to those under home quarantine.

Meanwhile, the government has also entrusted local bodies and the revenue department to ensure food and accommodation for migrant workers still in Kerala.

The state government has also decided to take care of migrant workers in Kerala. The issue was discussed in a video conference conducted by CM Vijayan on March 25.

Special camps would be set up in the district for ensuring a healthy and comfortable stay for them, Ernarkulam District Collector S Suhas said in a statement on March 25. He said the workers would be given food and community kitchens would be set up for the purpose.
