Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) will establish a new research and development base in Telangana in April 2026, marking its second overseas R&D hub as the company expands its global innovation strategy.
The facility will be set up at the Technology Research Park within Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad), where DNP will collaborate with researchers on projects spanning mobility and medical healthcare.
The move follows the company’s first overseas R&D center launched in the Netherlands in 2025 and reflects a growing focus on India as a strategic innovation hub.
DNP said the partnership will combine its industrial technology capabilities with IIT Hyderabad’s research expertise to accelerate development and commercialization of new technologies.
In the mobility segment, the collaboration will focus on advancing wireless power supply systems for electric vehicles, building on DNP’s existing strength in battery pouch materials and its work on next-generation mobility technologies.
In healthcare, the research will target new synthesis routes for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), leveraging expertise from DNP’s fine chemicals division to support development from early-stage design through to production.
The company said it plans to position India as a key global development base for APIs over time, with the potential to commercialize innovations locally and expand into international markets.
The investment highlights India’s growing role as a destination for global R&D, particularly in advanced manufacturing, mobility and life sciences, as multinational companies look to tap into local talent and research ecosystems.
