This Independence Day, the FASTag Annual Pass promises faster toll collection, reduced travel delays, and a smoother driving experience for India’s road commuters.
The Government of India is set to roll out the FASTag Annual Pass on August 15, 2025, aiming to revolutionize toll payment for frequent travelers on national highways. Introduced by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), this digital toll collection upgrade allows private car, jeep, and van owners to make a one-time payment of ₹3,000 for up to 200 toll crossings or one year of unlimited travel, whichever comes first.
India’s FASTag toll payment system has already streamlined highway toll transactions through RFID-based cashless toll collection. The FASTag Annual Pass takes convenience further by eliminating the need for repeated online recharges, helping reduce traffic congestion and waiting time at toll plazas.
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said the initiative addresses long-standing complaints about toll plazas placed too close together and will make highway travel in India more seamless and dispute-free.
Key Benefits
Hassle-Free Travel: No need for multiple FASTag recharges.
Faster Toll Processing: Reduces queues at NHAI-managed toll plazas.
Cost Savings: Especially beneficial for daily commuters and long-distance travelers.
Smooth Highway Experience: Ideal for those regularly traveling on Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Mumbai–Nashik, Mumbai–Surat, and Mumbai–Ratnagiri routes.
The FASTag Annual Pass is valid only on national highways and expressways managed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) or the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). It cannot be used on state highways or municipal toll roads. Non-eligible routes include the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, Samruddhi Mahamarg, Atal Setu, Agra–Lucknow Expressway, Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway, and Ahmedabad–Vadodara Expressway, where standard toll charges will continue to apply.
Designed exclusively for private vehicles, this prepaid toll pass links directly to an existing active FASTag registered under the correct vehicle registration number. Owners of cars, jeeps, and vans can activate the pass without buying a new FASTag device.
