According to Taiwan-based makers, Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) reportedly has secured orders from Amazon for assembling second-generation Kindle Fire tablet PCs, with shipments to begin in the first half of 2012. In response, Foxconn declined to comment. As per market sources, Foxconn also undertakes OEM production of Sony's Tablet S.
With Apple's iPad 2, Sony's Tablet S and Amazon's second-generation Kindle Fire to all produced by Foxconn, the sources estimated that close to 80% of worldwide tablet PC shipments will be supplied by the company in the future.
The sources pointed out that the first-generation Kindle Fire is handled by Quanta Computer, but Foxconn has already successfully gained orders for the second-generation model.
