
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced an extension to its free online Aadhaar document update service from 14 June 2025 to 14 June 2026. The move aims to help people keep their Aadhaar details accurate and up to date. The free service, available exclusively on the myAadhaar portal, makes it convenient for people to submit documents from their smartphones or computers.
According to the official announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), this free service is meant to “benefit millions of Aadhaar Number Holders.”
The UIDAI is asking people to take advantage of this additional time to keep their documents up to date and accurate. The service can be accessed only through the myAadhaar online portal and is free of cost during this period
Aadhaar holders can use this free service to update their -
• Proof of Identity (PoI) — documents that show their name and photo
• Proof of Address (PoA) — documents that reflect their residential address
Some documents that can be uploaded to prove user’s identity or address include voter IDs, utility bills, ration cards, and passports. The documents should be in PDF, PNG, or JPEG format and must be less than 2 MB in size. Updating these details is crucial for accessing numerous services, from banking to education and health care.
