The agreement with the Gujarat State Electronics Mission will explore setting up a semiconductor materials production facility in Dholera, supporting India's semiconductor ambitions, local manufacturing ecosystem and resilient domestic supply chain development.
FUJIFILM India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM) under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, to explore opportunities for manufacturing semiconductor materials in India. The agreement was signed at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Vadodara and aims to strengthen the country's semiconductor supply chain while supporting the government's vision of making India a global semiconductor hub.
Under the MoU, FUJIFILM India will assess the feasibility of establishing a semiconductor materials production facility in Dholera. The company said it will work with government agencies, industry bodies and private enterprises to support the development of a robust domestic semiconductor ecosystem. The initiative is expected to contribute to India's self-reliance in critical semiconductor materials amid growing demand from sectors such as electronics, automotive, telecommunications and artificial intelligence.

Focus on local manufacturing

With more than 20 production facilities worldwide, Fujifilm Electronic Materials considers India a strategic growth market. The company said the proposed initiative aligns with the Make in India programme by promoting local manufacturing, technology collaboration and supply chain development to support the country's long-term semiconductor ambitions.
