As per a recent update, Gemalto has been honoured with two awards for enabling secure connectivity in a benchmark European eCall pilot program that advances this important technology across the European Union (EU). Gemalto is the recipient of the 2013 iMobility Industry &Technology Award celebrating the most ambitious and innovative iMobility deployments, sponsored by the European Commission. Gemalto won the 2013 ERTICO(1) HeERO Award for contribution to the pre-deployment of a pan-European eCall system.

Our contribution to the European eCall System is a next best step towards the “connected car of tomorrow”, aiming to make people’s lives more convenient through our dedicated automotive M2M technology,” said Lars Thyroff, Head of Automotive M2M, Gemalto.
The HeERO program aligns pre-deployment in 15 participating EU member-states synchronizing wireless systems and emergency response across country and network borders. The European Union is aiming to have all-new types of pre-defined vehicles equipped with the eCall solution by the end of 2015.
