Google has finalised its largest acquisition by bringing cybersecurity firm Wiz into Google Cloud, aiming to build a unified AI-driven security platform that helps organisations detect threats faster and secure complex multi-cloud environments.
Technology giant Google has completed its biggest acquisition to date, finalising a $32 billion deal to acquire cybersecurity startup Wiz. The company will now operate within Google Cloud, as part of Google’s broader strategy to strengthen cloud security and develop advanced protection systems powered by artificial intelligence.
The acquisition, first announced in March 2025, took nearly a year to complete after undergoing regulatory reviews in several regions, including Europe. With the deal now finalised, Google plans to combine Wiz’s cloud security capabilities with its own infrastructure to create a unified platform designed to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats more efficiently.
According to Thomas Kurian, Chief Executive Officer of Google Cloud, the integration of Wiz will help simplify security management for organisations operating across multiple cloud platforms. He noted that the new approach aims to transform security from a technical challenge into a driver of innovation for enterprises and government organisations.
Focus on AI-powered multi-cloud security
The combined platform will focus heavily on artificial intelligence to identify emerging threats and protect digital environments. The companies plan to use AI models to monitor vulnerabilities, detect malicious activity, and help security professionals investigate potential breaches more quickly.
Another key objective is to address the growing complexity of multi-cloud environments. As organisations increasingly rely on services from multiple cloud providers, managing security across different platforms has become more difficult. The planned system aims to provide consistent security tools, policies, and processes across all layers of cloud infrastructure—from application code to runtime environments.
Continued support for multiple cloud platforms
Although Wiz will now operate under Google Cloud, the company will continue to support customers across other major cloud platforms. According to Wiz CEO and co-founder Assaf Rappaport, the company will maintain its open approach and continue providing security solutions for services such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud, alongside Google Cloud.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said the acquisition will strengthen the company’s ability to protect organisations as they increasingly adopt cloud computing and generative AI technologies. By combining Google’s AI capabilities with Wiz’s expertise in cloud security, the company aims to help customers innovate while maintaining strong protection against evolving cyber threats.
Industry observers say the deal highlights Google’s growing focus on cybersecurity as cloud adoption accelerates globally and organisations face increasingly sophisticated digital threats.
