The upgraded subscription now offers significantly higher cloud storage at no extra cost, alongside deeper AI integration across productivity tools and smart home services, enhancing functionality for users working across multiple platforms and devices.
Google has upgraded its AI Pro subscription by more than doubling the available cloud storage, increasing it from 2TB to 5TB without raising the monthly fee of Rs 1,950. The added storage will be accessible across key services including Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos, offering users greater flexibility for data storage and backups.
The enhancement has been rolled out automatically to existing subscribers, reflecting Google’s strategy to strengthen the value proposition of its AI-focused plans. The additional capacity is expected to benefit users handling large volumes of data, particularly those leveraging AI tools for productivity and content creation.
Rising competition within Google’s own storage tiers
The expansion also reshapes the comparison with the company’s existing storage offerings. The standard Google One 2TB plan, priced at Rs 650 per month, now appears less competitive when viewed alongside the AI Pro plan, which combines significantly higher storage with advanced AI capabilities.
While the pricing difference remains proportional, the inclusion of AI-driven features and increased storage in a single plan signals a shift towards bundled offerings. Meanwhile, entry-level storage tiers have remained largely unchanged, highlighting a growing divide between basic and premium subscriptions.
Gemini integration enhances productivity tools
Alongside the storage increase, Google has introduced expanded capabilities for its AI assistant, Gemini, across its productivity ecosystem. The AI can now draw context simultaneously from files, emails, and web data within applications such as Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive, enabling more contextual and efficient workflows.
Additional features include enhanced email search and proofreading tools within Gmail for select users, as well as new automation capabilities in the Chrome browser. These features are designed to handle repetitive tasks, such as filling out forms or organising travel plans, with minimal manual input.
The AI Pro plan also now includes Google Home Premium at no additional cost, extending AI-powered automation to smart home environments. This integration allows users to manage connected devices more intelligently through Gemini-based controls.
The latest update highlights Google’s broader push to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply into its core services, while offering increased storage capacity as an added incentive for users to adopt its premium ecosystem.
