State to roll out shared AI computing infrastructure with over 100 GPUs under the IndiaAI Mission, enabling startups, academia, and government bodies to accelerate innovation, reduce costs, and scale artificial intelligence applications efficiently.
The Gujarat Government has announced plans to deploy more than 100 high-performance GPUs to strengthen artificial intelligence capabilities across the state. The initiative, led by Gujarat Informatics Limited under the Science and Technology Department, is aimed at supporting startups, educational institutions, and government departments with advanced computing resources. The move aligns with the state’s broader push towards technology-driven governance under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Shared AI infrastructure to boost innovation
The GPU deployment is part of the Centre’s IndiaAI Mission, which focuses on building shared computing infrastructure to democratise access to high-end technology. The facility will allow organisations to utilise GPUs for AI model training, application development, and large-scale deployment without the need for heavy upfront investments. Officials said the initiative is expected to significantly reduce costs and time associated with acquiring advanced computing systems, while enabling faster innovation and adoption of AI-driven solutions across sectors.
Strengthening Gujarat’s AI ambitions
The announcement follows discussions held during the “AI Startup Samvad” in Gandhinagar, where the Chief Minister engaged with startups to explore scalable AI applications. The state government has been actively working to build a robust AI ecosystem through centres of excellence, industry collaborations, and innovation-led programmes. The new infrastructure is expected to support development of locally relevant AI solutions, improve governance efficiency, and enhance citizen services, positioning Gujarat as a key hub for AI innovation in India.
