Harish Kohli,
Managing Director, Acer India
The Government’s “Digital India” programme aims to connect all gram panchayats by broadband Internet, promote e-governance and transform India into a connected knowledge economy. At Acer, we have executed major e-governance initiatives (such as, CCTNS and Passport Seva) under the National E-Governance Plan and have also won significant deals in the BFSI and infrastructure segments.
The manufacturing of electronic products that mainly takes place in the country is a low- value addition, and is mainly focussed on last-mile assembly. It is imperative for the Government to provide the necessary support to enable the overall development in the IT ecosystem. To address each dimension of the ecosystem and create such an environment, multiple factors such as proper connectivity and reliable power that affect the business environment need to be addressed.
Our Government is increasing its focus on this sector, and aims to transform it from a consumption-driven market to the one with manufacturing capability.
Harish Kohli, Managing Director, Acer India
