Hitachi Vantara’s first-quarter performance reflects accelerating enterprise demand for storage infrastructure, with strong growth in VSP One and block storage as organizations modernize data environments and expand AI workloads.
Hitachi Vantara, the data storage, infrastructure and hybrid cloud management subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., has reported a strong start to fiscal 2026, with total revenue rising 12% year over year for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.
The company’s global product revenue, covering Hitachi Vantara and third-party offerings, increased 31%. Storage remained a key growth driver, with Hitachi Vantara’s storage revenue climbing 45% as enterprises continued investing in its Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) portfolio to modernize mission-critical infrastructure and support expanding AI initiatives.
The growth comes amid broader momentum in the enterprise storage market. According to IDC, worldwide external OEM enterprise storage systems revenue increased 22.7% year over year in the first quarter of 2026, supported by demand for AI infrastructure and spending on deferred technology refreshes.
VSP One gains momentum as AI drives infrastructure demand
As enterprises move beyond experimentation with AI and begin scaling workloads, the underlying data infrastructure has become increasingly important. Hitachi Vantara is positioning VSP One as a unified platform capable of supporting block, file and object data across on-premises and cloud environments.
The company said the platform is designed to help organizations simplify increasingly complex data environments while improving resilience and making critical information more accessible. Its customer base spans sectors including financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare and government.
“Every major business priority now has a data infrastructure requirement attached to it,” said Adrian Johnson, chief revenue officer, Hitachi Vantara. “As organizations expand their use of AI and modernize their most critical applications, they need infrastructure that can deliver more performance and resilience without adding another layer of complexity. Our Q1 performance reflects the growing need for infrastructure that is easier to manage, keeps critical applications running and can support more data and workloads without the need for a major overhaul.”
The company reported growth across its block storage business and international markets. Revenue from high-end and midrange storage increased 54% and 43%, respectively, while overall block revenue grew 49%. In the US, block revenue rose 24%. Product revenue also increased 73% across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and 52% in Asia-Pacific.
VSP One Block High End targets mission-critical workloads
Hitachi Vantara has also expanded its VSP One Block portfolio with VSP One Block High End, aimed at mission-critical applications, mainframe environments and AI workloads. The platform enables enterprises to consolidate open systems and mainframe workloads on a common infrastructure.
The company said the offering is designed to provide the performance, availability and cyber resilience required for demanding workloads. VSP 360 provides centralized management and operational visibility to help organizations oversee storage environments more efficiently.
With support for up to 50 million IOPS, eight nines of availability, integrated cyber resilience and a 4:1 data reduction guarantee, VSP One Block High End is designed to support operational continuity while organizations scale data-intensive applications.
“As organizations expand their use of AI while continuing to support mission-critical applications, they need storage infrastructure that can keep pace without making their environments harder to manage,” said Scott Sinclair, practice director, Infrastructure, Cloud & DevOps, Omdia. “VSP One Block High End brings together the performance, resilience and scale these workloads demand in a unified platform, giving customers a practical path to modernize their data foundation while keeping complexity in check.”
Hitachi Vantara said VSP One has also received recent industry recognition, including the 2026 Global Tech Award for Data Technology and the 2026 CloudX Award in the Cloud, Object and Data Storage category. The company was additionally named a Leader and Fast Mover in the 2026 GigaOm Radars for Object Storage and Unstructured Data Management, with the latter marking its sixth consecutive year receiving the distinction.
