Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that India stands at the forefront of the global artificial intelligence (AI) transformation, highlighting the country’s rapid strides in digital infrastructure, innovation and responsible AI development.
His remarks came as he inaugurated the India AI Impact Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, where the India AI Impact Summit is being held from February 16 to 20. The summit has drawn global leaders, industry captains, policymakers, researchers and technology experts to deliberate on the future of AI.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister welcomed delegates from around the world and said the gathering aims to bring together diverse stakeholders to shape the next phase of AI-led growth. The theme of the summit, “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” (welfare for all, happiness for all), reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that artificial intelligence serves human-centric progress.
AI Driving Transformation across Sectors
Modi noted that AI is already transforming critical sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, governance and enterprise. He expressed confidence that discussions at the summit would enrich global dialogue on innovation, collaboration and the responsible deployment of AI technologies.
“I am confident that the outcomes of the Summit will help shape a future that is progressive, innovative and opportunity-driven,” he said, underscoring the importance of aligning technological advancement with ethical and inclusive growth.
Highlighting India’s preparedness, the Prime Minister credited the country’s 1.4 billion citizens for powering its digital transformation. He pointed to India’s robust digital public infrastructure, vibrant startup ecosystem and cutting-edge research landscape as key enablers of its AI ambitions.
India as a Global Digital Hub
In a recent interaction, Modi positioned India as an emerging global hub for digital infrastructure and AI. He said recent tax incentives announced in the Union Budget are aimed at accelerating investments, reducing the cost of building advanced facilities and strengthening India’s competitiveness in the global data economy.
In a strong outreach message to the international community, the Prime Minister invited global enterprises to leverage India’s digital capabilities, signaling the country’s intent to play a leading role in the next wave of technological innovation.
