Targeting a rapid growth in the Indian market, Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific is aiming to be among top five PC vendors in the country with 5-per cent market share in the next three years’ time. The company currently only has about 0.2-per cent market share in India.
Speaking to VARIndia, Ivan Kam, Associate Director – Business Development, Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific, said, “We should be able to grow 3–5 times that of the market growth, as we have all the necessary factors of growth. We will be positioning Fujitsu as a leading vendor to introduce new and exciting notebooks with innovative technology. When the market becomes more acquainted about Fujitsu, we hope Fujitsu would be the leading brand of choice. As Fujitsu carries premium brands as well, we hope customers will eventually
appreciate that quality comes with a price, and thus we hope consumers and commercial customers in India will continue their patronage support for Fujitsu notebooks. We hope to see Fujitsu grow rapidly in the Indian market.”

For the notebook segment alone, Fujitsu is experiencing rapid growth of 130 per cent year on year owing to some good impressions with the dealer channels and market, through branding ads, billboards, road shows and exhibitions.
This year, Fujitsu will actively step up focus in the retail channels, and will begin to effectively cover the commercial segments. “We will be hiring new enterprising staff and will engage with business partners to effectively push Fujitsu notebooks into the commercial segment verticals. That includes all the corporate segments, government and education space. We focus on the full range of entry, value and premium categories. I dare say Fujitsu is one of the few vendors to carry the widest range of products, and thus able to offer more products for wider customer choices,” added Kam.
As far as its marketing activities are concerned, Fujitsu will engage in very active marcom activities: ads, billboards, road shows, exhibitions, retail branding and training. For the retail business, Fujitsu will continue to distribute through national and regional distributors and sell through the dealer channels. For the commercial business, it will engage corporate customers through business partners’ and/or fulfil directly, if the corporate customer prefers direct US dollar billing route to benefit import tax relief.
To improve the service support, it has appointed Redington as its Authorized Service Provider across pan-India. Adds Kam, “In addition, we have also appointed another Fujisan as the other Authorized Service Providers, and they have seven service locations across India. Fujitsu has a strong worldwide reputation for service, as Fujitsu is the top 3 service provider in the world. Fujitsu’s service in India should do very well through our authorized service partners in India. In any case, Fujitsu notebooks, because of the quality build, has the highest reliability track record, which means that pressure for service support should be a lot less.”
“We are building confidence level in the dealer channels to sell Fujitsu, with dealer certifications, product training, channels meets, and a very equitable channels policy with attractive schemes, to support dealer activities. Fujitsu has introduced India’s first 3.5G notebooks, which has the widest range and smallest tablet PCs, and has widest range and extremely lightweight ultra-portables, quality built-in confidence and excellent 3-year warranty coverage across all our Fujitsu notebooks. If the dealer channels are very tired of just competing in the aggressive entry-level space with meagre margins, then they should consider selling some Fujitsu notebooks to experience the better alternative. Fujitsu’s quality and sales profitability are better,” informed Kam.
sWhen asked about the challenges before the company in India, Kam promptly replied, “One of the challenges we often face is that customers want Japanese quality at Indian prices. As I mentioned quality comes at a price, we hope that customers will be fair and appreciate that for Fujitsu to continue maintaining our production plants in Japan and Germany, we need the customers’ support and endorsements. We are the last of the PC manufacturers who are still trying to maintain the original country of origin production plants, and have not gone the way as many of our competitors who have set up manufacturing plants away from their country of origin. If you can appreciate the quality that a Fujitsu product carries, then you will understand why we place so much value on the production quality due to the higher cost of Japanese/German production.”
