Home-grown handset maker Lava has launched its latest budget-friendly 5G smartphone, the Lava Shark 5G, aiming to deliver an affordable yet capable mobile experience for cost-conscious consumers.
Priced at ₹7,999, the Lava Shark 5G is available in a single configuration featuring 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It comes in two colour options: Stellar Gold and Stellar Blue. Buyers can also benefit from Lava’s Free Service@Home program, in addition to a standard one-year warranty. The device is available for purchase via Lava's retail outlets and official e-store.
Specifications
The Shark 5G sports a 6.75-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, offering smoother visuals and enhanced responsiveness for day-to-day tasks. Powering the device is the Unisoc T765 chipset—an energy-efficient 6nm octa-core processor with integrated 5G support. Alongside 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, the smartphone also offers 4GB of virtual RAM for improved multitasking performance. Storage can be expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card.
Camera and connectivity
In the camera department, the Shark 5G features a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter, suitable for basic photography and video calls. The phone is backed by a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging, though only a 10W charger is included in the box.
Connectivity features include dual 5G SIM slots with support for both SA and NSA bands, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with GLONASS, and a USB Type-C port. The device also includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric security.
With the Shark 5G, Lava aims to strengthen its position in the entry-level 5G smartphone segment, offering users a modern design and reliable performance at an accessible price point.
