As the new age technology is moving towards intelligent and automation, that we called , Robotics Process automation(RPA), The technology will hook in with Microsoft’s existing RPA offering, Power Automate. The softomotive technology to help people to automate tasks on windows.
Microsoft strengthens its RPA portfolio with Softomotive acquisition, a UK-headquartered RPA software company. With the intended purchase, Microsoft has muscled into the RPA game in a big way and with this the competition among the rest RPA players to intense.
“One of our most distinguishing characteristics, and an indelible part of our DNA, is an unswerving commitment to usability,” writes Softomotive CEO and co-founder Marios Stavropoulos. “We have always believed in the notion of citizen developers and, since less than two percent of the world population can write code, we believe the greatest potential for both process improvement and overall innovation comes from business end users. This is why we have invested so diligently in abstracting complexity away from end users and created one of the industry’s most intuitive user interfaces – so that non-technical business end users can not just do more, but also make deeper contributions by becoming professional problem solvers and innovators. We are extremely excited to pursue this vision as part of Microsoft.”
Beyond our obvious excitement around becoming part of one of the world’s leading technology companies, we are looking forward to joining Microsoft because of the unique value we will deliver to customers together:
Providing an integrated experience with Microsoft Power Automate – The citizen developers who are our mutual customers will be able to realize a greater set of automation options.
Expanding adjacent solution integrations – Microsoft provides a natural path to not only greater scalability but other complimentary solutions such as augmented AI and analytics as well.
Upgrading our customer success and support – We look forward to providing our customers with even better professional services as we become part of Microsoft. says, Marios Stavropoulos.
Experts says, Given the current recession and focus on projects that reduce cost, the timing could not be better. However, both the companies did not disclose the financial details of the transaction.
The existing 8,000-plus customers of Softomotive are single users or small work groups. Softomotive's WinAutomation product has both attended and unattended deployment options and a solid offering that is flexible and easy to use but not exercised generally for complex use cases. Functionally, the acquisition helps in three primary areas. The acquired WinAutomation has a competitive attended-mode solution and gets over this restriction.
Now it’ll integrate with UI Flows. (Be patient with me here) and Power Automate. The UI Flows offering will remain in the market but mostly for unattended-mode use cases. Secondly, Microsoft's bot design support gets a major facelift. The web-based designer of UI Flows could not compete with major RPA design studios, which have a richer set of thick-client design features.
The most interesting business proposition would be, the USP of WinAutomation's attended-mode support, when combined with Power Virtual Agents and other Azure cognitive services, lays a strong foundation to build the next generation of invisible robots.
