
Emerson brings over 25 years of experience in product leadership, having scaled ServiceNow’s ITOM revenue ninefold and held senior roles at VMware, BMC Software, and Remedy, contributing to widely adopted enterprise software and cloud solutions
New Relic, the Intelligent Observability company, has announced the appointment of Brian Emerson as its new Chief Product Officer (CPO), a move aimed at strengthening the company’s innovation strategy and execution for its widely adopted Intelligent Observability Platform. The platform currently serves 85,000 customers worldwide, helping organizations optimize IT operations, manage costs, and enhance overall business performance.
Emerson brings over 25 years of experience in product development and management at high-growth software and cloud platform companies. Before joining New Relic, he served as Group Vice President & General Manager at ServiceNow, where he scaled IT Operations Management (ITOM) revenue by nine times while overseeing strategy, go-to-market initiatives, and product execution. The ITOM portfolio became one of ServiceNow’s fastest-growing businesses under his leadership. Emerson has also held senior product roles at VMware, BMC Software, and Remedy, contributing to some of the industry’s most widely used enterprise software solutions.

In his role, Emerson will report directly to Willy and oversee the product management team, guiding new platform capabilities and partner integrations. Over the past year, New Relic has introduced more than 25 innovations to its Intelligent Observability Platform, delivering unified insights across infrastructure, applications, and AI pipelines. The company was also named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Observability Platforms for the 13th consecutive year, recognized for its vision and execution in AI-enhanced workflows.
