The company has paused the release of two OxygenOS 16 builds following reports of restart and boot-related problems, while engineers work on fixes and additional stability checks before resuming the software rollout.
Smartphone brand OnePlus has temporarily suspended the rollout of two recent OxygenOS 16 software updates after several users reportedly experienced abnormal restart and boot issues following installation.
The affected software versions include OxygenOS 16.0.7.XXX and OxygenOS 16.0.5.XXX. The company confirmed the pause through an update posted on its community forum, stating that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure while internal teams investigate the root cause of the problem.
According to OnePlus, the issue is currently being treated as a priority, with engineers working to identify the fault and prevent wider stability concerns for users. The company added that the rollout will resume only after the updates successfully complete additional reliability and performance testing.
However, OnePlus has not yet provided a timeline for when the suspended OxygenOS 16 builds will again become available for eligible devices.
Company reviews quality and testing processes
The smartphone maker also acknowledged the inconvenience caused to users and said it is reviewing its internal quality assurance and software testing procedures to reduce the possibility of similar issues in future updates.
While OnePlus has not officially disclosed the list of affected smartphones, reports indicate that the rollout may have covered users in India and the United States. Devices believed to be part of the update cycle include models ranging from the OnePlus Nord CE 4 to newer flagship smartphones.
The incident highlights the growing challenges smartphone companies face in delivering large software updates while maintaining device stability across multiple hardware configurations and regions.
OxygenOS 16.1 introduces new AI features
Even as the company addresses the software issue, OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 16.1 for the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 13 series smartphones.
The latest update introduces several new interface and AI-focused enhancements, including a new “Live Space” feature that displays live information on the lock screen in a compact capsule-style layout. The update also adds an Organise tab capable of automatically rearranging home screen and app drawer icons.
In addition, OxygenOS 16.1 brings refreshed animations, upgraded AI capabilities, and a redesigned camera application interface inspired by modern smartphone layouts. The company is expected to continue expanding AI-driven features across future OxygenOS releases.
