The update introduces a unified conversational analytics interface and secure API framework designed to embed explainable AI, governed data access and third-party assistant integration into production enterprise workflows.
Data analytics firm Qlik has announced the general availability of its new agentic experience within Qlik Cloud, introducing a unified conversational interface through Qlik Answers. The company also confirmed the release of its Qlik Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, designed to allow secure access to Qlik’s analytics engine and governed data products by external AI assistants.
The move comes as enterprises shift from AI experimentation to production-grade deployments, placing greater emphasis on governance, transparency and accountability. Organisations increasingly require AI systems capable of operating across structured analytics and unstructured content while maintaining business logic and traceability.
Unified conversational analytics
At the centre of the update is Qlik Answers, which translates user queries into explainable insights by combining outputs from the Qlik Analytics Engine with grounded responses drawn from curated documents. The system provides citations and reasoning trails, supporting auditability in operational environments.
The agentic framework also introduces Discovery Agent, which continuously monitors key performance indicators to flag anomalies and emerging trends. In addition, Data Products for Analytics offer curated datasets with built-in stewardship and quality markers to ensure both users and AI systems work with trusted information.
The newly available MCP server extends these capabilities beyond Qlik Cloud. By exposing analytics tools, agents and governed datasets through secure APIs, the protocol enables third-party assistants, including Claude from Anthropic, to interact with enterprise data within defined governance controls.
Focus on governance and operational readiness
Qlik CEO Mike Capone said evolving geopolitical dynamics, regulatory scrutiny and cost pressures are pushing enterprises to prioritise auditability and embedded governance in AI systems.
Industry analysts note that as companies move from copilots to more autonomous AI agents, explainability and structured data frameworks become essential. Qlik’s approach seeks to preserve analytical context during calculations, reducing inconsistencies that can arise when AI systems process queries in isolation.
The company indicated that additional agents supporting data pipelines, quality management and stewardship are planned. Broader integration with AI tools via MCP is also expected over time.
Qlik’s agentic capabilities and MCP server are now generally available in Qlik Cloud, with further enhancements slated for release in the coming months.
