Samsung Electronics has unveiled its super high-speed, next-generation, Mobile WiMAX 2 based on IEEE 802.16m for the first time in the country at the India Telecom Show at Pragati Maidan. The company had demonstrated this technology for the first time in "CEATEC, Japan 2010" in Tokyo, Japan this year.
Samsung has captured major global markets in Wireless broadband technology. Samsung has deployed proven Wimax 16e technology with 57 operators across 35 countries, including Clearwire, USA; Yota, Russia; UQ Communications, Japan; YTL, Malaysia; VMax, Taiwan and Mobley, Saudi Arabia accounting for more that 40% global market share.
"India is one of the countries with the most potential for growth of BWA (Wireless Broadband Wireless). The obvious answers to this question, whether India will take a chance to leapfrog its economic status by expanding broadband services with mature wireless technology available with clear roadmap, that is WiMAX 16e standard with a smooth migration to16m standard or TD-LTE services in India becomes clear, depends on the Telecom Operators who have acquired precious BWA spectrum," states Dr. Song .
Wimax 16m being demonstrated by Samsung Electronics at the India Telecom Show, has already been designated by ITU-R as one of its Global Standards for 4G technology. WiMAX 2 based on IEEE 802.16m standard enables more efficient, faster, and more converged data communications.
