Founding member and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Tata Neu, Sauvik Banerjjee has resigned from the ecommerce venture of the Tata Group, just four months after the Mumbai-based conglomerate launched the much-hyped super app in April.
Banerjjee joined Tata Group in 2016 as CTO of Tata Cliq. He moved to Tata Digital in 2019 and has been part of the core team ever since. It is reportedly said that Banerjjee is keen to relocate abroad for personal reasons.
Confirming the news, he said, “I am a UK national and was planning to move back to a global role. I had decided a few months back and post the (Tata Neu) launch I decided to move on.” It is said that the Tatas may replace Banerjjee with a TCS veteran but are also looking at external candidates.
An official said, “TCS has a deep talent pool that group companies keep dipping into. Tata Digital has kept its options open, but may explore the possibility of roping in an external talent to have a diverse talent pool.”
Tata Neu has laid out aggressive plans for its growth and is still working on enhancing the app’s user experience. The company said it aspires to have 100-150 million NeuPass members in the next 2-3 years.
