It seems Sony and HP are trying to gain buyer's attention through an aggressive pricing strategy. As per the latest update, Sony and HP have slashed the prices of their Windows 8-based laptops in India.
Sony and Hewlett-Packard have dropped the prices by as much as Rs.2,000 over the past two weeks.
Market watchers believe that consumers are spending more money on smartphones and PC firms are offering discounts on laptops to generate some fresh demand. Moreover, there has not been a huge interest for Microsoft’s latest Windows 8-based PCs in consumers.
Spokesperson of Sony called it "routine", while HP spokesperson declined to comment on the recent price cut.
