Surat Police have launched an advanced AI-driven police control room, marking a major step toward smarter, technology-enabled urban policing. The upgraded system is designed to significantly enhance emergency response, surveillance, and crime prevention across the rapidly growing city.
The new control room integrates real-time video analytics from thousands of CCTV cameras positioned across Surat. Using AI, the system can automatically detect unusual movements, suspicious objects, traffic violations, and potential crime indicators.
Officials say the platform will also support facial recognition, missing-person tracking, and vehicle number-plate identification. These capabilities are expected to speed up investigations and strengthen public safety mechanisms.
The control room is equipped with high-speed data processing, allowing officers to receive alerts instantly and coordinate field teams with improved precision. Integration with GPS-enabled police vehicles further accelerates response times.
Surat Police emphasized that the AI systems operate with strict checks to prevent misuse and ensure citizen privacy, aligning with national guidelines for responsible tech deployment.
Authorities believe the new setup will help reduce crime rates, improve emergency management, and support crowd control during major events and festivals.
With this launch, Surat becomes one of the first cities in India to adopt such a comprehensive AI-powered policing infrastructure, setting a benchmark for next-generation urban safety.
