Synology has introduced DiskStation DS211j, a 2-bay full-featured NAS server dedicated to data sharing and backup for home and small office. Together with the new Synology Remote, a direction-free audio control, and DS audio smart phones application, DS211j acts as an budget-friendly entertainment center to deliver ubiquitous music enjoyment for home users.
Installed with DiskStation Manager 3.0 (DSM 3.0), the Synology DS211j provides comprehensive multimedia applications through the intuitive user interface. Audio Station application enables easy sharing of music over the Internet, streaming of Internet radio stations, and iPod playback. The new plug-and-play Synology Remote further enhances the comfortable and convenient listening experience.
"The Synology DS211j can be easily integrated in the home entertainment system, and serves as the heart of the whole system," said Chad Chiang, product manager of Synology. By activating the Download Station application, users can download without PC for 24 hours, supporting BitTorrent, FTP, HTTP, eMule, and NZB. After downloading multimedia files, users can stream with UPnP Digital Media Adapter to a DLNA compliant TV-set or a stereo.
All of personal and precious data on the Synology DS211j can be protected by various backup solutions. Other than desktop backup to DiskStation NAS server, users can secure data in DS211j with Synology Hybrid RAID, a technology that can protect data by data mirroring and grow storage capacity.
