The surveillance solutions provider says certification process is underway and aligned with Indian regulations, while rejecting claims around business disruption and mischaracterisation of its global identity.
TP-Link India, a subsidiary of US-headquartered TP-Link Systems Inc., has issued a clarification addressing what it described as “rumours and misleading reports” surrounding the certification and business status of its surveillance product portfolio in the country.
In a communication shared with partners and stakeholders, the company stated that its certification processes for IP-based CCTV cameras are actively underway and fully aligned with India’s regulatory requirements. It emphasised that it remains committed to compliance, transparency, and product quality amid evolving norms for connected surveillance devices.
The clarification comes at a time when stricter certification requirements under the government’s Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) framework have come into effect, mandating approval for all internet-connected CCTV products before they can be sold in India.
Certification progress and business continuity
TP-Link India confirmed that two models from its VIGI surveillance series—C340 and C440—have already received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The company also provided details of the certification, noting that the approvals are valid through mid-2027.
It added that ongoing developments related to certification are part of standard regulatory procedures and are being addressed through appropriate channels. The company reiterated that its business operations, product availability, and partner commitments in India remain unaffected.
“We continue to support our partners with the same level of reliability and service,” the company said, urging stakeholders to rely only on official communications and avoid unverified information.
TP-Link refutes claims on origin and control
Separately, TP-Link also pushed back against what it called inaccurate media narratives regarding its origin. The company stated that TP-Link India operates as a subsidiary of TP-Link Systems Inc., headquartered in Irvine, California, in the United States.
It clarified that its global research and development operations are owned and controlled by its US headquarters, with no foreign government involvement in product design or manufacturing processes. The company further noted that key components, including chipsets, are sourced or designed in regions such as Taiwan and the United States.
The statement underscores TP-Link’s effort to address both compliance-related concerns and broader perceptions about its global identity, amid heightened scrutiny of surveillance equipment and connected devices in India.
