Vertiv, a global provider of critical digital-infrastructure solutions, has completed its previously announced acquisition of Purge Rite Intermediate LLC (PurgeRite) in a deal valued at approximately $1 billion. The move significantly expands Vertiv’s thermal-management services and strengthens its position as a leading provider of next-generation liquid-cooling solutions for data centers, high-performance computing (HPC) environments and AI workloads.
Vertiv CEO Gio Albertazzi said the integration of PurgeRite marks a major step forward in building a comprehensive thermal-chain services offering. He noted that PurgeRite’s deep specialization in fluid-management services enhances Vertiv’s ability to deliver end-to-end support for customers deploying dense computing and AI systems, where efficient liquid cooling is essential to performance and long-term reliability.
The rise of AI factories, large-scale model training clusters and HPC systems is accelerating global demand for liquid cooling, which requires rigorous maintenance standards to function effectively. The performance of these systems depends on ultra-clean, air-free, chemically stable coolant loops established at commissioning and maintained throughout the equipment lifecycle. Vertiv said PurgeRite’s expertise plays a critical role in ensuring those conditions, enabling data centers to maximize heat-transfer efficiency and reduce risks associated with contamination or flow obstruction.
Vertiv expects the acquisition to bring substantial customer benefits, including higher system efficiency, improved thermal performance, and reduced downtime risk. The company said the combination will allow it to scale thermal-service delivery globally and offer consistent quality for hyperscalers, colocation providers and enterprise data-center operators.
Based in Houston, Texas, PurgeRite has become a key service partner for major operators in the data-center industry, specializing in mechanical flushing, purging and filtration for mission-critical cooling systems. The company is known for its engineering expertise, proprietary purification technologies and its ability to support demanding construction and commissioning schedules. Its capabilities span the entire thermal chain—from chillers and heat-exchangers to coolant distribution units (CDUs) and rack-level liquid-cooling systems.
With PurgeRite now under its umbrella, Vertiv said it will offer fully integrated thermal-management solutions “from facility to room and row to rack,” combining its existing liquid-cooling products with newly expanded service capabilities. The acquisition reinforces Vertiv’s strategy to lead the rapidly growing liquid-cooling market as AI-driven data-center power densities continue to climb worldwide.
