Vertiv’s acquisition of Great Lakes Data Racks & Cabinets is set to enhance its AI-ready infrastructure portfolio by offering factory-integrated systems that streamline power, cooling, and data management, enabling faster deployment, higher efficiency, and scalable growth
Vertiv has announced its agreement to acquire the Great Lakes Data Racks & Cabinets group of companies for $200 million. The move is aimed at strengthening Vertiv’s capabilities in delivering pre-engineered, AI-ready rack solutions tailored for enterprise, edge, colocation, and hyperscale data center markets.
The deal, expected to close in the third quarter of 2025, is subject to regulatory approvals, including clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act. The purchase price represents approximately 11.5 times Great Lakes’ projected 2026 EBITDA, factoring in anticipated cost synergies and cross-selling opportunities.
Headquartered in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, and founded in 1985, Great Lakes operates manufacturing and assembly sites in both the U.S. and Europe. The company is known for its innovative and highly customized range of data rack enclosures, seismic cabinets, and integrated infrastructure products designed for both retrofit and greenfield deployments.
“This acquisition significantly enhances Vertiv’s ability to deliver engineered solutions for next-generation AI infrastructure,” said Vertiv CEO Giordano (Gio) Albertazzi. “By integrating Great Lakes' deep expertise in high-end racks with Vertiv’s power and cooling portfolio, we are positioned to offer our customers faster deployment, greater scalability, and comprehensive support for high-density computing environments.”
With this acquisition, Vertiv aims to provide end-to-end digital infrastructure solutions through streamlined sourcing and factory-integrated systems that combine power, cooling, and data management. The addition of Great Lakes is expected to accelerate deployment timelines, improve operational efficiency, and support the growing demand for scalable, AI-driven infrastructure.
The acquisition underlines Vertiv’s strategic focus on capturing the growing opportunities within the high-density and AI computing segments, as global enterprises and data center operators increasingly shift toward advanced infrastructure solutions.
Once completed, the integration will also leverage Vertiv’s global service network to enhance post-deployment support and lifecycle management for clients worldwide.
