Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced the launch of its 5G services in Chandigarh and Patna, starting April 28, 2025. This marks a significant expansion following Vi's successful launch in Mumbai in March, where more than 70% of eligible users are already experiencing 5G, contributing to 20% of total network data traffic. This launch is part of Vi's initial 5G rollout, with Delhi and Bangalore set to follow in May.
Vi has also rolled out 5G services in 11 major cricket stadiums across the country in time for the ongoing T20 League, offering fans high-speed connectivity during live matches. To celebrate the launch, Vi is offering unlimited 5G data on plans starting from Rs. 299, allowing users to enjoy enhanced experiences in streaming, gaming, conferencing, fast downloads, and real-time cloud access.
The company has partnered with Samsung for network deployment in Chandigarh and Patna, incorporating energy-efficient infrastructure and vRan technology to improve network flexibility and performance. Additionally, Vi has deployed an AI-based Self-Organizing Network (SON) system to optimize overall network efficiency.
Vi's 5G rollout will continue in line with increasing 5G handset penetration and demand for high-speed services. Committed to providing a future-ready network, Vi aims to empower consumers and businesses across India with advanced mobile applications and services, significantly enhancing the country's digital landscape.
