French beauty major L’Oréal will establish its first global beauty tech hub in Hyderabad, investing over ₹3,500 crore to scale artificial intelligence, data and digital platforms from India for worldwide operations.
French cosmetics giant L’Oréal has announced plans to establish its first-ever global technology hub in Hyderabad, placing India at the centre of the company’s worldwide digital and artificial intelligence strategy. The move marks a major expansion of L’Oréal’s technology footprint and reinforces India’s growing role in driving global innovation.
The decision was finalised following discussions between L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus and senior Telangana government officials on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos. The partnership was formally announced earlier this week, signalling a long-term commitment to build and scale advanced digital capabilities from India.
Focus on AI, data and digital platforms
The Hyderabad facility will serve as L’Oréal’s first dedicated Beauty Tech hub globally. It will focus on developing and deploying digital platforms and AI-led solutions across the company’s international businesses. Key areas of work will include data engineering, artificial intelligence, generative AI and emerging agentic AI systems aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and customer engagement.
L’Oréal and the Telangana government have committed an investment of over ₹3,500 crore in the project through 2030. As part of the expansion, the company plans to create around 2,000 high-skilled technology roles, including positions for AI specialists, software engineers and data professionals.
The collaboration is being positioned as a milestone initiative under the India–France Year of Innovation 2026. L’Oréal said the Hyderabad hub will play a central role in building technology solutions in India that can be deployed across its global markets, while also contributing to the local ecosystem through employment and skill development.
Strengthening India’s global tech role
The India Tech Hub will become part of L’Oréal’s global technology and AI network, complementing existing centres in regions such as Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America. The Hyderabad team is expected to support global functions by designing, scaling and maintaining digital tools used across research, manufacturing, marketing and commerce.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the partnership aligns with the state’s long-term vision to position itself as a global hub for AI and digital excellence, while generating high-value employment opportunities. State officials also highlighted the hub’s alignment with Telangana’s broader push to expand applied AI and advanced data capabilities.
L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus noted that the initiative builds on the company’s more than three-decade presence in India. He said India’s strong technology talent and mature digital ecosystem make it a natural choice to anchor L’Oréal’s global Beauty Tech ambitions, further strengthening the country’s role in large-scale digital transformation.
