From themed fonts and hidden animations on Instagram to new romantic sound effects and advanced speed controls on Edits, Meta introduces festive tools to boost user creativity and engagement from February 12 to 16.
Meta Platforms has unveiled a range of limited-period Valentine’s Day features on Instagram and its video-creation app Edits. The festive update, available between February 12 and 16, introduces themed design elements and interactive tools aimed at encouraging creative expression during the holiday.
On Instagram, users can access special Valentine’s-themed fonts and animated text effects while creating Stories and Reels. These additions allow for decorative captions, overlays and visually enhanced posts tailored to the occasion.
The platform has also incorporated interactive elements in the form of hidden animations. Certain keywords or phrases used in Story comments can trigger visual surprises, adding a playful dimension to user interactions. Similar prompts have been introduced in Instagram Notes, where subtle hints guide users to discover themed effects.
New stickers and chat themes
The update further expands visual customisation options. Instagram has introduced Photo Sticker Frames featuring heart-inspired borders for Stories. A Custom Story Mention sticker has also been added, enabling users to tag friends or partners with a celebratory effect.
To complement public posts, a Valentine’s-themed chat background is now available for direct messages, accessible in both light and dark modes. The feature aims to extend the festive experience into private conversations.
Edits app adds lasting creative tools
Unlike Instagram’s temporary features, Edits is receiving permanent updates. New romantic audio options, including soft instrumental tones and heartbeat-inspired effects, have been added to its sound library. Valentine’s-style fonts and text presets will remain accessible beyond the holiday.
Additionally, the app now offers expanded speed controls, allowing creators to dramatically accelerate video clips for dynamic visual impact.
Seasonal updates have become a key engagement strategy for social media platforms. By pairing limited-time aesthetic changes with long-term creator enhancements, Meta is seeking to engage both everyday users and professional content creators during high-visibility cultural moments.
