Lakshminarayanan will work closely with the current leadership to ensure a smooth handover before formally assuming the role of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment is subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals. Once completed, Lakshminarayanan will succeed Amur S Lakshminarayanan, who has led the company through a phase of transformation focused on strengthening its digital portfolio and global enterprise services.
Leadership Transition and Strategic Continuity
Ganesh Lakshminarayanan brings over three decades of experience across the technology, manufacturing, and services sectors. He is currently the CEO of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) China and has previously held senior leadership positions within the Tata Group, including roles at Tata Chemicals and Tata Motors. His background spans operations, digital transformation, and large-scale global business management.
Tata Communications said the appointment reflects its focus on leadership continuity and long-term strategic growth. As CEO-designate, Lakshminarayanan will engage closely with stakeholders, customers, and employees as the company continues to expand its global network, cloud, security, and collaboration services.

Tata Communications plays a critical role in powering digital ecosystems, offering network, cloud, mobility, and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to enterprises and service providers worldwide. The company has been investing in next-generation technologies to support digital transformation initiatives across industries.
With Lakshminarayanan set to take over, the company is expected to maintain its emphasis on innovation, customer-centric solutions, and operational excellence. His experience in managing complex international operations is seen as a key asset as Tata Communications navigates an increasingly competitive and technology-driven market.
The outgoing CEO, Amur S Lakshminarayanan, is credited with strengthening the company’s balance sheet, expanding its digital services portfolio, and reinforcing its position as a trusted global communications partner.
The leadership change comes at a time when demand for secure, scalable, and resilient digital infrastructure continues to grow, positioning Tata Communications for its next phase of expansion under new leadership.
