India's data centre industry is moving from capacity-led growth to workload-led growth, as generative AI, hyperscale cloud and edge computing place new demands on power density, thermal management and deployment speed. A shift reflected in recent market analysis of India's move toward hyperscale, cloud-native and AI-optimized infrastructure. At Vertiv, our approach has evolved from delivering discrete power and cooling components to offering integrated, scalable systems that support high-density AI clusters and hybrid workloads across colocation, hyperscale and edge environments. We work closely with channel partners, system integrators and enterprise customers to help operators plan infrastructure that can adapt as compute requirements change, rather than building for a single generation of technology. Our channel partners are also adapting AI into their own business practices, upskilling their teams and organisations to meet the technical demands of AI-driven workloads.

Efficiency, resilience and data sovereignty are central to how we approach India's digital infrastructure roadmap. We develop and deploy liquid cooling, modular UPS and thermal management technologies designed to support improved energy efficiency as data centres scale to meet AI-driven demand. Cybersecurity and physical resilience are built into our infrastructure design approach, helping operators protect mission-critical systems as digital adoption expands the threat surface. On data sovereignty, we work within India's regulatory and localization requirements to help customers build infrastructure that meets compliance obligations without compromising performance.
Closing the Skills Gap for AI-Ready Infrastructure
Over the next five years, India's data centre industry has the potential to strengthen its position as a hub for AI infrastructure, supported by the country's focus on digital public infrastructure and data localization. That opportunity comes with real challenges: power availability and grid readiness, and a shortage of skilled technical talent. Industry estimates suggest only a small share of applicants currently meet the skill requirements for modern data centre roles. We are addressing this directly through our Training Academy and Technology Excellence Centre in Pune, which strengthens the pipeline of skilled service engineers capable of managing high-density, AI-ready environments. Alongside this, we continue working closely with partners to build infrastructure that supports both current workloads and the compute-intensive applications that will define the next phase of India's AI journey.
