The initiative aims to support deep-tech startups with funding, mentorship, and ecosystem access, enabling them to develop next-generation mobile technologies and collaborate closely with Samsung’s global R&D network for scalable innovation.
Samsung has announced the launch of the 2026 edition of its global startup incubation and collaboration programme, Samsung Mobile Advance (SMA), inviting Indian startups to participate in shaping next-generation mobile technologies. The programme is being led by Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore and Samsung R&D Institute Noida, reinforcing the company’s focus on open innovation.
SMA is designed to connect emerging startups with Samsung’s global mobile ecosystem, enabling them to co-develop solutions that can scale across millions of devices. The initiative aligns with the company’s broader strategy of integrating external innovation with its in-house research and development capabilities to accelerate technology advancement.
Focus on deep-tech innovation and startup support
First introduced in India in 2023, the programme offers selected startups grant funding of up to $50,000 to build proof-of-concept (PoC) solutions. Notably, Samsung does not take equity in participating startups, allowing founders to retain full ownership while benefiting from the company’s resources and expertise.

The 2026 edition will focus on a wide range of technology areas, including artificial intelligence (AI), extended reality (XR), security, health, imaging, audio, and wearable technologies. Startups working in these domains will have the opportunity to develop solutions that can integrate seamlessly into Samsung’s mobile ecosystem, enhancing user experiences across devices.
Highlighting the vision behind the initiative, Mohan Rao Goli, Managing Director and CVP, Samsung R&D Institute India, Bangalore, said, “SMA reflects our deep commitment to open innovation, bringing together startup ingenuity and Samsung’s global R&D strength to co-create the future of mobile experiences. We aim to build long-term partnerships that not only accelerate innovation but also translate bold ideas into impactful solutions at global scale,”
Kyungyun Roo, Managing Director, Samsung R&D Institute India, Noida, added, “Through SMA, we focus on partnering with startups that demonstrate strong cultural and technological synergy. We aim to integrate the best of external innovation with Samsung’s R&D expertise to shape the future of mobile experiences,”
Structured selection process and long-term collaboration
The programme follows a multi-stage selection process, beginning with application submissions until June 30, followed by evaluations, pitch presentations, and final selection. The incubation phase is scheduled to begin in October, culminating in a demonstration event where startups can showcase their solutions and explore commercial opportunities.
Participants will gain access to Samsung’s global mentorship network, product ecosystem, and potential partnership or investment opportunities. Over the years, the company has collaborated with startups in areas such as voice intelligence, advanced modelling, and cybersecurity, highlighting its continued focus on co-creating impactful solutions.
With the 2026 edition, Samsung aims to deepen its engagement with India’s startup ecosystem, supporting innovation that can contribute to the future of mobile technology at a global scale.
