Workday launches AI-powered learning platform with Sana to personalise employee training

The new platform combines AI-powered tutoring, automated content creation and personalised learning pathways to help organisations accelerate workforce upskilling, improve employee engagement and simplify learning administration amid growing enterprise AI adoption.

Workday has announced the general availability of Workday Learning, powered by Sana, a new AI-enabled learning solution designed to help organisations deliver personalised employee training while simplifying learning management and content creation. The platform integrates Workday's workforce and skills data with Sana's AI-native learning capabilities to offer customised learning experiences aligned with employees' roles and career development.

The launch comes as enterprises increasingly invest in AI adoption and workforce transformation, creating demand for learning platforms capable of keeping pace with rapidly changing business and technology requirements. Traditional learning systems, often dependent on manual processes and static training materials, have struggled to deliver relevant, engaging and continuously updated learning experiences.

According to Workday, the new solution leverages trusted HR data to recommend learning content tailored to an employee's skills, responsibilities, location and organisational context, helping organisations move beyond generic training programmes.

AI-driven learning aims to improve workforce capability

The platform introduces AI capabilities across the learning lifecycle, enabling employees, content creators and administrators to benefit from automation and intelligent assistance.

For learners, the platform offers a personal AI tutor that provides contextual explanations, answers questions in natural language, recommends relevant courses and guides employees through complex topics. Interactive features such as quizzes, polls and reflection exercises are designed to encourage continuous learning rather than one-time course completion.

For learning and development (L&D) teams, AI tools can convert existing documents, presentations and learning materials into interactive digital courses within minutes. The platform also supports automated content updates, translation into multiple languages and collaborative editing, allowing global organisations to roll out learning programmes more efficiently.

"With a personal AI tutor, interactive quizzes, and learning tailored to each employee's role and skills, Workday Learning, powered by Sana, turns required training into engaging experiences employees can apply in their day-to-day work."

Workday said organisations using its AI-powered authoring capabilities have reported reductions of up to 98% in content creation time, significantly shortening course development cycles while enabling learning teams to respond more quickly to evolving business needs and regulatory changes.

Integrated platform streamlines learning operations

The platform also introduces new capabilities for HR and learning administrators by bringing course management, assignments, reporting and compliance activities into a single environment. Learning pathways can be updated automatically when employees change roles, join new teams or relocate, reducing manual administrative effort.

By integrating learning records with workforce data in Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), organisations can measure learning outcomes against broader business metrics such as skills development, internal mobility, employee performance and retention, rather than relying solely on course completion rates.

Workday said customers including The Josh Bersin Company and Accenture are already using Sana-powered capabilities to modernise enterprise learning environments and support AI-driven workforce development. The company noted that Workday Learning, powered by Sana, is now generally available worldwide for Workday HCM customers, while Sana Learn will continue to be offered as a standalone solution for organisations outside the Workday ecosystem.
