The device is expected to target the budget laptop segment dominated by Chromebooks and Windows PCs, potentially reshaping competition.
Apple is reportedly preparing to shake up the budget laptop market with its most affordable MacBook ever. According to industry leaks, this entry-level MacBook will be powered by the A18 Pro chip from the recently launched iPhone 16 Pro, and could be priced at just $599 (around ₹52,000) — making it Apple’s cheapest laptop in India to date.
Currently, the sub-₹60,000 laptop segment is dominated by Google Chromebooks and Windows laptops. By launching a low-cost MacBook, Apple could directly challenge these budget-friendly rivals while appealing to students, casual users, and first-time Mac buyers.
The upcoming model is expected to undercut the MacBook Air, which starts at ₹99,900 in India, potentially bringing Apple laptops into a completely new price bracket.

Leaks suggest that the affordable MacBook will sport a 12.9-inch display, a sleek ultra-thin chassis, and come in silver, blue, pink, and yellow. While it will ditch Apple’s M-series silicon in favor of the A18 Pro processor, this smartphone-grade chip still promises solid performance for everyday tasks, web browsing, streaming, and productivity apps.
However, power users may notice a performance gap compared to the MacBook Air M-series models, especially for heavy workloads like 4K video editing or 3D rendering.
Reports suggest that mass production could begin by late Q3 2025, with an official launch expected sometime next year. If priced aggressively, this could be the best MacBook for students, remote workers, and budget-conscious Apple fans.
A ₹52,000 MacBook could be a game-changer for Apple, opening the door to millions of potential buyers who have so far found the Mac lineup out of reach. The upcoming MacBook may sport an ultra-thin chassis available in silver, blue, pink, and yellow, along with a 12.9-inch display—slightly smaller than the 13.6-inch screen on the MacBook Air. Mass production is expected to begin by late Q3 2025, with a launch anticipated in 2026.
