Instagram introduces ‘Reorder Grid’ feature, giving users more control over profile layouts
The new tool allows users to rearrange posts on their profile pages regardless of publishing date, enabling creators, brands and individuals to curate a more personalised showcase of their content and digital identity.
Instagram is rolling out a new profile customisation feature that will allow users to rearrange posts on their profile grids, marking a significant departure from the platform’s long-standing chronological display format.
The feature, called “Reorder Grid,” enables users to manually organise posts in any sequence they choose, giving them greater flexibility in determining how their profiles appear to visitors. Until now, Instagram profiles automatically displayed content based on publication date, with the newest posts appearing first and older content gradually moving down the grid.
With the latest update, users will be able to highlight selected posts, organise content around specific themes, or create a more visually cohesive profile without having to republish older content.
The move is expected to be particularly beneficial for content creators, influencers, businesses and professionals who use Instagram as a portfolio, marketing channel or brand-building platform. By allowing users to control the presentation of their content, Instagram aims to help them make a stronger first impression on profile visitors.

A simpler way to curate profiles
According to Meta, the feature has been designed to be easy to use. Users can activate the option directly from their profile page by selecting a post and choosing the new “Reorder Grid” setting. Posts can then be moved into a preferred position through a drag-and-drop interface.
Importantly, the update affects only the visual arrangement of content on a user’s profile. Existing post details, including publication dates, captions, comments, likes and engagement metrics, remain unchanged.
This distinction means users can refresh the appearance of their profiles without affecting the historical record or performance data associated with their content.
The new functionality reflects a broader trend across social media platforms toward increased personalisation and profile customisation. Rather than being limited by posting chronology, users can now organise their profiles around campaigns, creative projects, product collections or curated visual themes.
Part of a broader push for user customisation
The launch also aligns with Meta’s efforts to expand profile management and creator-focused tools on Instagram. Recently, the company introduced Instagram Plus in India, a subscription service that offers additional profile customisation features and enhanced insights for users.
The paid offering includes benefits such as expanded post-pinning options, customised application icons, unique font styles for profiles and deeper analytics related to Stories and audience engagement.
While the Reorder Grid feature will be available to all users, its introduction underscores Instagram’s increasing focus on helping individuals and brands shape their online presence more effectively.
As competition among social media platforms intensifies, features that provide greater control over content presentation are becoming an important part of attracting creators and maintaining user engagement. Instagram’s latest update signals a shift toward a more personalised and curated profile experience for its global user base.
