EMC India unveils 2010 Strategy

EMC, one of the leading developers and providers of information infrastructure technology and solutions, has unveiled its India strategy for 2010. “It is a growing industry with around 60-per cent growth a year. We help customers to store information, and limit unauthorized access. India is one of the important markets for EMC. BFSI, Pharma and Information Security are the thrust areas for India. We believe in innovation in building capabilities,” said Steven Leonard, President, EMC APJ.

“Through VMware, we have various tools for visualization. We will continue to strengthen our portfolio, and focus on R&D activities,” added Steven Leonard. “We have a strong focus on information infrastructure, and the explosive growth in digital content needs to be managed efficiently. RSA is the security division of EMC. We are looking at how to get more out of current assets with a utility model,” said Manoj Chugh, who holds dual responsibilities at EMC Corporation as its Director for Global Accounts (APJ) and President of EMC India and SAARC.

According to Chugh, the capabilities of a cloud are high as it converts into a utility service for customers and charge appropriately, and one can pay as per the need for virtual infrastructure. IDC in its recent report said that EMC India is one of the leading providers of external disk storage systems, and has a market share of around 24 per cent. “EMC’s $2 billion investment in India is the single-largest investment made by any of the technology companies in the country. With the technology trends unfolding in information, virtualization and next-generation data centers, the focus for 2010 will be on e-Governance, and other citizens connect initiatives,” he said.

“A virtualized data center makes efficient IT model, and private clods are going to be the mainstay for us,” he said. We are a part of e-sewa (passport project) as well as bagged a project for e-Governance, and we have all the requisite capabilities and well-efficient technology set to be a part of government’s ambitious national ID project. I am very optimistic about the future prospects of EMC,” added Chugh.

EMC’s global partner ecosystem includes Dell and Datacraft, and Wipro as a tier-I partner in addition to HCL, TCS, Apra and Tata Elxi. Redington and Ingram as regional distributors facilitate our reach in various cities. The company also offers, Velocity Partner Programme with its network of systems integrators. It has more than 200 channel partners with a presence in over 40 locations. The company has eight offices, and nine logistics centres and support centres throughout the country.
