As organisations continue to accelerate digital transformation, identity has become one of the most critical aspects of cybersecurity. Attackers are increasingly relying on phishing and credential theft rather than exploiting technical vulnerabilities, making traditional password-based authentication progressively less effective. Even conventional multi-factor authentication methods, including SMS-based codes, one- time passwords and push notifications, can be vulnerable to sophisticated phishing attacks when users unknowingly authenticate malicious sessions. This highlights the need for authentication approaches that reduce dependence on passwords while strengthening protection against evolving identity-based threats.
At Yubico, our mission is to help make the internet safer by enabling phishing-resistant authentication.
Through the FIDO standards, advanced in collaboration with the broader industry, and YubiKey hardware security keys, we enable phishing-resistant authentication based on public key cryptography rather than shared secrets. By securely storing private keys on dedicated hardware, binding credentials to legitimate domains, and requiring user verification and physical presence, this approach helps reduce common credential theft risks while improving trust in the authentication process.
As organisations continue expanding cloud adoption and digital services, strengthening identity security has become a critical element of cyber resilience. Our focus is on helping customers adopt passwordless, phishing-resistant authentication that combines strong security with a seamless user experience. By reducing reliance on passwords and strengthening identity protection, organisations can better secure users, applications and digital assets against an increasingly sophisticated threat landscape.
