itel launches City 300 5G in India at ₹14,999, targeting young buyers seeking affordable 5G smartphone

The budget smartphone pairs a 120Hz punch-hole display, a 6nm 5G chipset and a 5000mAh battery with a bloatware-free Android 16 Go Edition interface, aimed at first-time 5G upgraders in smaller markets.

itel has launched the City 300 5G in India, positioning the handset as a value-focused 5G smartphone for young, aspirational buyers. Priced at ₹14,999, the phone combines 5G connectivity, a smooth display, dependable battery life and a clean software experience, moving beyond what the company calls basic entry-level offerings.

Display and design

The City 300 5G has a 6.67-inch HD+ punch-hole display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2.5D glass, intended to deliver smoother scrolling and more responsive visuals during streaming, social media use and casual gaming. The panel has a resolution of 720 × 1600 pixels, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz and a pixel density of 263 PPI.

The phone sits in an 8.4mm body, which itel says departs from traditional entry-level designs to give a more premium look and feel. It is available in three colours: Dark Ruby, Mist Beige and Bold Indigo.

Performance and connectivity

Under the hood is the UNISOC T8200 octa-core 6nm processor, with two cores clocked at 2.3GHz and six at 2.1GHz. The company says the chip is meant to deliver reliable everyday performance. The phone supports 10 5G bands with NRCA technology for enhanced connectivity.

The device comes in a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration, which itel says is designed to handle apps, video calls and content streaming smoothly. It also supports UltraLink free calling, which the company describes as added connectivity value for budget-conscious users. Bluetooth 5.0 is included.

Battery and cameras

A 5000mAh battery powers the phone through daily use, from browsing and streaming to calls and messaging. It charges over USB Type-C, and a 10W charger is included in the box.

For photography, the handset has a 13MP autofocus rear camera and an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

Software and security

The City 300 5G runs Android 16 Go Edition, which itel says offers a lightweight, smooth and bloatware-free experience. For unlocking, it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor along with face unlock.

Speaking about the launch, Arijeet Talapatra, CEO, itel India, said, “While the demand for 5G connectivity is growing rapidly across Tier 3 to Tier 5 markets, many young buyers still feel 5G is out of reach due to tight budgets or fear overpaying for entry-level devices that compromise on design and screen quality. With the itel City 300 5G, we are solving this exact problem. We are delivering a premium 120Hz punch-hole display, real 5G speed, and long-lasting battery life in a phone that looks and feels far above its segment. It is about giving aspirational, value-seeking consumers the power of 5G without compromise.”
