
Lava has expanded its smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the Play Ultra, a device tailored to budget-conscious mobile gamers. Priced starting at ₹14,999, the Play Ultra will be available exclusively on Amazon from August 25 in Arctic Frost and Arctic Slate finishes.
Display and durability
The Play Ultra features a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED display offering a 120Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nits peak brightness, and full DCI-P3 colour gamut support. With 10-finger multi-touch controls and an oleophobic coating, the device is built for fast-paced gaming. Its IP64 rating ensures dust and splash resistance, adding durability for everyday use.
Performance and battery
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, the Play Ultra comes with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, expandable to 1TB. It runs on a clean Android 15 experience, backed by two years of OS updates and three years of security patches. A 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging and dual stereo speakers enhance both endurance and entertainment.
Camera setup
For imaging, the smartphone is equipped with a 64MP Sony IMX682 main sensor, paired with a 5MP macro lens, while the 13MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.
Pricing and variants
The 6GB+128GB variant is priced at ₹14,999, while the 8GB+128GB version costs ₹16,499. With its gaming-oriented features and aggressive pricing, Lava aims to capture the attention of young Indian consumers seeking performance without stretching their budget.
