LSI Corporation has appointed Santhanakrishnan Raman as managing director of LSI India Research and Development. In his new role, Raman will be responsible for driving business growth, advancing the company's R&D strategy and spearheading the expansion of LSI in India.

"India is a key development location for LSI, with engineers involved across the breadth of our product line," said Abhi Talwalkar, President & Chief Executive Officer, LSI. "Raman has played a key role over the past several years helping to build our capabilities in India, and his proven leadership and deep technical skills make him an ideal leader to steer LSI India forward."

As Managing Director, Raman will be responsible for driving several key initiatives for LSI India, as well as day-to-day management of the company's product portfolio and relationships with customers, suppliers, universities and government entities.

"The teams we have built at LSI India make significant contributions to the company's success," said Raman. "I look forward to helping the teams here continue to grow their capabilities and strategic value to LSI."

Raman succeeds Pravin Desale, who has been appointed vice-president of IC development for the Storage Components Division and will be based at the company's U.S. headquarters. During Desale's tenure at LSI India, the company quadrupled its investments in India and increased headcount fourfold.
