Netflix has announced that it will drop support for select older generations of Apple TVs. The company has already sent out emails to its customers notifying them about the same.
As technology evolves and software requirements change, it becomes increasingly challenging for streaming services like Netflix to maintain support for legacy hardware platforms.
The move is aimed at “maintaining the best possible Netflix experience.” As per the Netflix Support page, Netflix will no longer be available on Apple TV (2nd generation) and Apple TV (3rd generation) after July 31, 2024.
Additionally, discontinuing support for older devices allows Netflix to streamline its development efforts and take advantage of the capabilities offered by newer hardware platforms, enabling the delivery of enhanced viewing experiences to a broader audience.
