2013-01-22
Oracle has unveiled StorageTek LTO 6 Tape Drives with Fibre Channel connectivity for Oracle’s StorageTek SL8500 and SL3000 Tape Libraries. With the launch of these drives, Oracle now offers customers both the latest generation of LTO midrange tape drive technology and the industry’s highest capacity enterprise tape drive, Oracle’s StorageTek T10000C.
Supported by a variety of media suppliers, StorageTek LTO 6 Tape Drives offer excellent investment protection with backward read compatibility with Oracle’s StorageTek LTO 5 and LTO 4 drives to help preserve media investments and reduce implementation times.
“With the introduction of StorageTek LTO 6 tape drives, Oracle continues to provide the highest levels of investment protection and flexibility for StorageTek tape customers while enabling them to reduce the overall cost of archiving data,” said James Cates, Vice President, Hardware Development, Oracle. “With both LTO and StorageTek T10000C tape drives and the ability to mix-and-match, customers can process more data in less time and drive down the cost of tape operations.”
