The Telangana government has signed a landmark $7 billion agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to expand cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure in the state, marking one of the largest technology investments announced in India. The deal is expected to significantly strengthen Telangana’s position as a global hub for digital innovation, data centres, and advanced computing.
Under the agreement, AWS will invest in building large-scale data centre and AI-ready cloud infrastructure, supporting growing demand from enterprises, startups, and government agencies. The investment is also expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs across construction, operations, engineering, and technology services.
State officials said the partnership aligns with Telangana’s long-term vision to lead in AI, cloud computing, and digital public infrastructure, while offering global companies a stable policy environment and robust connectivity. The collaboration will also support skilling initiatives, startup enablement, and innovation ecosystems, helping local talent gain access to cutting-edge cloud and AI technologies.
For AWS, the deal strengthens its footprint in India, one of its fastest-growing markets. The company already operates data centre infrastructure in the country and continues to see rising demand driven by digital transformation, AI adoption, and regulatory emphasis on data localization.
The agreement reflects India’s broader push to attract hyperscale investments and build sovereign, scalable digital infrastructure. With this deal, Telangana reinforces its ambition to be at the forefront of the next wave of cloud and AI-led economic growth.
